Parkland Health Center is pleased to announce that Laura Lindsey, RN, BSN, has been selected as the ICARE Star Service Team Member for June 2018. Laura is a charge nurse in the emergency department and has worked for BJC HealthCare for 13 years, including several years as an intensive care nurse at Missouri Baptist Medical Center and the past ten years in Parkland’s emergency department.
Excerpts from Laura’s nomination read, “Our Star Service employee for June is a wonderful charge nurse who leads the emergency department with a smile and confidence. She is always open and honest with coworkers, patients and family members. She is able to keep calm in a crisis and keep things running smoothly. She is a great leader!”
When asked what she likes about her job in the emergency department at Parkland, Laura responded, “l like the fast pace and the challenges. I love my coworkers; they are like a second family to me.” In response to receiving the award, she said, “I was very surprised, very humbled.”
ICARE is Parkland’s patient experience service initiative and the acronym stands for the following values; Integrity, Compassion, Accountability, Respect and Excellence.
