Scholarship focuses on students pursuing education in medical field; applications due Dec. 15
Former BJC HealthCare president and CEO Steven Lipstein capably led the St. Louis-based health care system from 1999 to 2017. Under his leadership, BJC – with more than 31,000 employees, 15 hospitals and four service organizations – has become recognized as one of the largest and most successful not-for-profit, integrated health care delivery organizations in the United States, serving patients and families in the St. Louis metropolitan area, southern Illinois and mid-Missouri. During Lipstein’s 18-year tenure at the helm, BJC expanded services for patients, enhanced its financial stability, and become a valued voice in health care public policy. His years of service puts him among the longest-serving chief executives for a health care system.
To honor Lipstein’s accomplishments and dedication and to recognize his passion as a champion of education, the Parkland Health Center Foundation has created a scholarship in his name. The scholarship will be awarded to a St. Francois County high school senior who is furthering his or her education in the medical field.
The scholarship, a one-time award in the amount of $2,500, will be paid to the school of the recipient’s choice. Applications will be reviewed by the scholarship committee and the top qualifying applications will be presented to the full board of directors for final selection and approval.
