Parkland Health Center is pleased to announce that Mary Ann Smith has been selected as the ICARE Star Service Employee for September 2018. Mary Ann works in the dietary department and has worked at Parkland Health Center for thirteen years.
Excerpts from Mary Ann’s nomination read, “Everything she does is completed with our patients in mind. She knows the importance of caring with compassion and kindness. She goes above and beyond to make sure our patients’ food needs are exceeded. She is a dependable, hard working person who takes 100% pride and compassion with everything she does.”
In addition to cooking, Mary Ann talks with patients and helps them complete their menu selections each day. When asked what she likes about her job, Mary Ann replied, “I like meeting new people on the floor. You meet a lot of interesting people.” When asked how she felt about receiving this award, she said, “It was surprising.” This is the second time Mary Ann has been honored with this award; the first was in January 2013.
