Safe medication disposal is now available at the Parkland Health Center Family Care Pharmacy. Properly disposing of medication is beneficial to the environment. Toxins and chemicals from medicine thrown in the trash or flushed can get into our soil, contaminate water and injure, even kill, wildlife. Also keeping unused medication can create patient confusion. Safely removing medicine from your medicine cabinet prevents medication from being used beyond its intended purpose. Anyone can bring their unused medicine for safe disposal at PHC.
The kiosk is located inside the pharmacy entrance which is available Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Any prescription medication is accepted including tablets/capsules, eye/ear drops, patches, test strips and inhalers. Not accepted are needles/sharps, illegal drugs, batteries (ex: diabetic meters/blood pressure monitors) and non-pharmaceutical items.
