Farmington, MO (May 1, 2024) —Parkland Health Center announced this week the opening of a surgical center, on the northwest corner of the hospital campus, at 400 Parkland Drive.
The Parkland Health Center Surgical Center will focus on the following outpatient services: ophthalmology, ear nose and throat (ENT) and some minor orthopedic procedures. In addition, future construction is planned which will result in gastroenterology services also being provided at the surgical center. Major orthopedic surgeries will still occur at the main campus.
“Parkland Health and BJC HealthCare are dedicated to serving and caring for our community,” says Annette Schnabel, president of Parkland Health Center. “The acquisition of this building is a testament to our continued commitment of providing extraordinary care. The new surgical center not only allows us to expand our service offerings but also increase surgical capacity, ensures the sustainability of surgical services in Farmington and improves scheduling availability and access for patients in our community.”
Parkland Health assumed ownership of the facility in late March. All providers and staff of the previous facility have been offered positions at the new surgical center.
“We were thrilled to collaborate with Parkland and BJC in 1999 when the center was founded,” says Dr. John Fitz, a local ophthalmologist and former president of the Farmington Surgical Center. “I am happy we have come full circle and are fully integrated into the BJC Health System. This commitment demonstrates Parkland’s dedication to providing state-of-the-art care to rural Missouri. As a leading quality health care provider in Missouri, BJC and Parkland’s expertise and support will ensure that Farmington will have access to quality health care.”
The new outpatient surgical center is open 7 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday through Friday. The first surgery was performed on April 15th.
