A throbbing lower back. A headache that won’t go away. A tingling in your leg that borders on burning. If you’ve been in pain for a long time, and over-the-counter pain relievers aren’t helping, you might suffer from chronic pain. Chronic pain is defined as pain that lasts longer than six months and affects a person’s day-to-day life. It can be not only physically debilitating but also emotionally taxing. It’s also common. In 2021, an estimated 51 million Americans experienced chronic pain.
But there are treatments that can help. Pain management centers are health care facilities that focus on the individualized treatment of chronic pain. In July, Parkland Health Center (1101 W. Liberty St.) announced the opening of its new pain management center, conveniently located in Farmington, so you can receive the quality health care you need, when and where you need it. At the pain management center, you’ll receive individualized treatment for your pain and have access to a full range of therapies, from traditional pain relief to minimally invasive procedures.
“Our goal is to lower your pain and raise your quality of life,” says Lee Miesner, D.O. board-certified anesthesiologist, fellowship-trained in pain medicine. “Treatment at the Parkland Health Center Pain Management Center will help give you the skills to manage your chronic pain to help you return to your normal activities.”
