Parkland Health Center is pleased to announce that Tina Tharp has been selected as the Star Service Team Member for February 2017. Tina has worked at Parkland Health Center and one of its predecessors, Farmington Community Hospital, for nearly twenty-seven years.
Tina initially worked in the hospital’s housekeeping department. Since 1995, she has served in clerical services, and is currently office coordinator for the clerical services department. In this position, she coordinates a multitude of clerical needs for various projects and departments at Parkland Health Center. Her duties range from copying, scanning and laminating to coordinating the meals-on-wheels for special diets program. When asked what she likes about her job, Tina summed it up by saying, “I like helping people.”
Tina was selected in 1996 as Employee of the Year, making this her second major employee-driven award at the hospital.
The nomination from Tina’s peers reads in part, “With excellent service skills, she works to support a variety of departments. She is the mail room coordinator. She supports dietary by serving as the meals-on-wheels coordinator, where she talks with patients on a daily basis about their meal needs. She codes bills, does copy work and keyboarding for her customers. She coordinates the schedule for our long-term care driving service. She maintains the employee bulletin boards, schedules classrooms as needed, coordinates our notary service and works daily with the auxiliary volunteers, assisting with their clerical needs. She coordinates fund raisers that support our employee assistance program, and continues to be an integral part of our United Way fund raiser. She is always pleasant, helpful, engaged, and dependable.”
When asked how she felt about being honored with the Star Service award, Tina replied, “I was surprised!”
