Parkland Health Center is pleased to announce that Donna Short has been selected as the Star Service Team Member for March 2017. Donna has worked as a housekeeper at Parkland Health Center and one of its predecessors, Mineral Area Regional Medical Center, for sixteen years, and she currently works at Parkland-Bonne Terre.
When asked what she likes about her job, Donna referred to the satisfaction she feels when she sees the results of her hard work. She stated, “When I get finished and look back at what I’ve done, I feel like I’ve accomplished something.” As part of her job, Donna makes sure the Emergency Department is kept clean and she starts her day very early in order to prepare the Cancer Center for its daily patient schedule.
The nomination from Donna’s peers reads in part, “She brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to her role and works hard each day keeping oncology and the ED clean. She is friendly and helpful to all visitors and staff. She is always willing to help out in any part of the building. She brings a pleasant demeanor and a sweet mile with her every day. We are very happy to have her on the Bonne Terre team.”
When asked how she felt about being honored with the Star Service award, Donna replied, “I was surprised because I haven’t been with Parkland that long. It’s nice that people respect your work.”
