Expectant mothers need support and understanding to help them throughout the course of their pregnancy. Our Ob/Gyns and family practice providers at Parkland Health Center are committed to helping their patients achieve a healthy pregnancy and childbirth experience.
Obstetrical Services at Parkland Health Center
Part of BJC Medical Group, our providers offer personalized, compassionate care for expectant moms, understanding their needs and concerns, and collaborating with their patients to create birth plans that support their labor and delivery wishes. This may include certain pain relief options; a birth ball; adding a doula to the labor support team; etc. If you plan to have a doula present at your birth, your provider will plan to meet with both of you prior to your labor to review and finalize your birth plan.
In addition to our Ob/Gyns, we also have family practice providers on staff at Parkland Health Center. Our family practice providers are qualified to offer comprehensive health care for people of all ages — from newborns to seniors as well as expectant moms. For patients in their childbearing years, they provide comprehensive maternity care from family planning to prenatal and childbirth services, including vaginal and C-section deliveries.
Our providers provide management of low- and high-risk pregnancies, genetic testing and counseling, 3D ultrasounds, and virtual visits (in certain cases). In most cases, you’ll see your chosen provider during your regularly scheduled appointment. However, in the event that your provider is unavailable for an appointment or even your delivery, one of the other providers will step in to oversee your care. Following your delivery and discharge from the hospital, your provider will schedule a follow-up appointment to monitor your post-partum recovery.
Gynecologic Services at Parkland Health Center
In addition to prenatal and childbirth care, our Ob/Gyns offer the following gynecologic services:
- Routine gynecological exams
- Contraceptive counseling
- Evaluation and treatment of endometriosis
- Infertility
- Urogynecology
- Hormone replacement therapy
Office Hours and Virtual Visits
Our obstetrical providers offer regular hours during the week from 8am to 5pm and refer expectant moms to call the OB department (573-760-8500) directly for any medical issues that may rise after-hours. With the COVID-19 pandemic, some of our providers are offering virtual visits on a limited basis. These can be used if you have questions or issues that arise in between your monthly checkups and/or after you deliver. Please note: your doctor will still want to see you in-person for your regular prenatal appointments, which are critical for monitoring you and your baby’s vitals and development. Talk to your doctor to learn more about their prenatal and post-partum virtual visits offering.
Location and Insurance
All of our obstetrical providers work in the Medical Arts Building on the Parkland Health Center campus. Most insurance plans are accepted. Be sure to contact the provider’s office for the complete list of accepted plans.
