Parkland Health Center joined other Missouri hospitals to implement a tobacco-free (smoke-free) facility and campus effective January 1, 2007. The policy applies to its facilities in Farmington and Bonne Terre, and physician offices, parking lots and walkways owned or leased by the hospital. The policy includes the use of cigarettes, cigars, pipes, and chewing tobacco and applies to patients, visitors, physicians, staff, and employees. A state regulation prohibiting tobacco use on hospital campuses was issued by the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services effective July 20, 2006. Parkland Health Center offers smoking cessation classes for the community and additional resources to assist in quitting. Call 573.431.3338 for more information.
